When you’re running an MSP, you’re always focusing on being the very best you can be in this moment. You strive to be at the top of today's marketplace, edging out your competition and trying to rake in the most cash from sales. Despite this ambition, thinking about only the present is far too narrow-minded to last you for the long haul. For the MSP industry to thrive as a whole, we must take responsibility for MSP’s role in creating innovative technology. As an MSP, your company is always on the front lines of their customers' technology development and functionality. They have a unique outside perspective that allows you to evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of the industry. You'll also be able to identify common issues that sprout up across the board quickly. If you're paying attention, you can quickly identify the commonalities. Once you acknowledge this, you can craft your product development to proactively satisfy customers' needs and unique challenges. You can also keep tabs on industry trends and try to build on the innovation that other MSPs have tried to implement. Ultimately, any MSP's job is to help your customers, not just treat them and sales opportunities. Paying attention to their problems allows you to create products that MSPs didn't even know they needed to make their lives easier and have overall improved success in their business. When you adopt this progressive mentality, you push the entire MSP industry forward. Even though your technological developments may inspire your competition, you'll still benefit. If all the MSP companies succeed thanks to technological developments, they will likely earn greater profits themselves and, in turn, will have more resources to spend on your predictions. If MSPs choose to ignore their responsibility to innovate in the future, they might be okay for the present. There’s still plenty of time to grapple with marketing schemes and tweak your pricing to get better sales numbers. However, without looking toward future technological developments, the MSP industry will grind to a halt, and your customers will be paying the price for it. Instead, keep pushing yourself to create the greatest software and services you can. When the MSP industry is stronger, we all win. Don't settle as an MSP company.
